Wedding

We can’t believe the wedding has come and gone. We loved every minute we were able to spend with all of you and are so grateful that you were such troopers in Belize. Thank you for making our day/week so perfect, we are so grateful to all of you. We made many memories that we will never forget.

It was extremely rainy (such an understatement, right?) and hard to hear us say our vows. A few of you have asked to see them so we have decided to add our entire ceremony to the blog.

GATHERING WORDS

We have come together today, on this beautiful beach in Belize, to celebrate the love and marriage of Kristi and Carson. On behalf of Kristi and Carson, thank you for joining us. They are delighted that you have travelled so far to share in their joy, during this special day. By your presence, you celebrate with them, the love they have discovered in each other and you support their decision to commit themselves to a lifelong relationship.
The fact that so many people have traveled such a great distance to be here today is a testament in itself to the greatness of this relationship and the love these two share. Kristi and Carson would like to send a special and respectful acknowledgement to those friends and family members who were unable to travel here today, including their hairy babies, Kloee and McKnight. They would also like to acknowledge those who have passed on but whose spirit remains alive and strong in all our hearts. All of you have given them much happiness, love, warmth, and guidance through the various stages of their lives.

And as we remember those who are not with us, we also recognize those who are still denied the civil right of wedded union and forbidden the social and legal benefits of marriage. We have come a long way toward treating all men and women as equals, and yet, we acknowledge that we have farther still to go and more we can do to respect the choice to love, and be loved.

Kristi and Carson, your bond was first formed when the two of you chose to combine your separate lives into one.  You have made a mutual commitment to love each other in an atmosphere of care and consideration and respect.  You are partners in life, working together to bring out the best in each other, and for each other, and striving to be the most you can.  This ceremony marks the moment when the relationship you have been creating gains a new, richer meaning.
Your shared experiences have brought you together and forged this bond of love.  From this day onward you will come closer together than ever before. You will love one another for better and for worse, in sickness and in health.  At the same time your love will give you the strength to stand apart, to seek out your unique destinies, to make your special contribution to the world.

MARRIAGE STATEMENT OF INTENT/CONSENT

Kristi and Carson, do you, with family and friends as your witnesses, Present yourselves willingly and of your own accord to be joined in marriage?

[Kristi & Carson: WE DO]

Will you promise to care for each other in the joys and sorrows of life, Come what may,
and to share the responsibility for growth and enrichment of your life together?

[Kristi & Carson: WE WILL]

Then please turn to each other and share the vows you have written.
VOWS

I vow to love you
I vow to love you
to respect you
to be your best friend
to always share my beverage
to always buy ice cream
to be goofy
to scratch your back
to take spontaneous road trips
to do most of the driving
to read aloud to you
to write you love letters
to always provide you with more education than you need
to indulge your intellectual side
to encourage you
to continue to be amazed by your green thumb
to listen
to be patient
to always kiss you goodnight
to cuddle you up
to never stop learning
to dream big dreams
to encourage you
to be your biggest fan
to keep you warm
to not take you for granted
to sing to you
to laugh with you
to ask about your day
to greet you at the door
to hold your hand
to be objective
to admit when I’m wrong
to cherish you for always
to never give up
to never, ever give up
to work every day toward being the man you deserve
to work every day toward being the woman you deserve
Do you vow to be my wife?
I do. Do you vow to me my husband?
I do.

RING EXCHANGE

For thousands of years, lovers have exchanged rings as a token of their vows. Let these rings be a sign that love has a past, a present, and a future through you and within you.

Carson, take Kristi’s ring and place it on her finger and repeat after me:
I give you this ring as a sign that I choose you
To be my lover, my partner and my best friend, to the end of my daysWear it, think of me, and know that I love you

Kristi, take Carson’s ring and place it on his finger and repeat after me:
I give you this ring as a sign that I choose you
To be my lover, my partner and my best friend, to the end of my days
Wear it, think of me, and know that I love you
Closing

We do not have the closing in writing, the rain changed things up a bit. ; )

We love you all and are eternally grateful to you. THANK YOU!

Xoxo

My Cruise Manager - Manage My Cruise

Hi-
Should you be interested or just getting excited--you can go onto Carnival's website.  It's super easy and you can view Plan Activities, Cruise Documents, Online Check-In, Explore each Port, your Stateroom, Dining Time and other Embarkation Information.  I also noticed you can edit your Bedding preference.  I believe for a room for two they set the default as twin beds (I know; odd) so if you want One King, you can go online and edit your bedding arrangement.

-Click on "Manage My Cruise" http://www.carnival.com/
-Then click on "Access Your Booking"
-Enter in your information: Booking #, Last Name, DOB, Ship Name, Sail Date
-We provided the booking #'s  for everyone on the Cabin Information post. Booking # is the first 6  characters in Bold. Ship Name is Glory and Sail Date is April 15th.

Feel free to comment or call us with questions!

Wedding Day

We have everything set for the wedding so it's time to share with all of you. On the morning of April 18th, we will need to get on the tender (boat that takes you to the port) by 8:20am. Once we get to the port we will be taking a water taxi to Caye Caulker, where we will marry. Please book your water taxi ahead of time, that way we can jump right on at 9:00am. The water taxi company we are using is the Belize Express water taxi, click here to purchase your tickets. Round trip costs $17.50 and we will be purchasing tickets for all of the kids.

Once we get to Caye Caulker, we will go to the Iguana Reef Inn where we will marry on their private beach. Afterwards, we will toast with champagne and then please feel free to go play! We will be hanging out at Caye Caulker for the entire day, if you want to hang with us. = )

If you have any questions, let us know!
 xoxo Carson and Kristi

Wedding Updates

Hello!

Now that the wedding is getting closer we will  be posting more frequent updates for you. Please make sure to come check out the blog a few more times before the trip. We are extremely excited that the wedding is only 43 days away and that we head to Miami 39 days! The days that once seemed so far away are suddenly feeling so close. What an amazing feeling. Every day I become more grateful for all of you, we feel so loved that you have decided to join us as we make life long commitments to each other. I can’t wait to make Carson my husband and to make life long memories that week with all of you.

By now, you should have received your actual wedding invite in the mail. Please note that I did not include a response card, we already know you have paid and are going so there was no need. = )

Dinner:

Now, a couple of updates. I am working with Vicky on getting us the 6:00 dinner time. It was either 6:00 or 8:00 and we figured after being out on the beach all day that everyone would probably be hungry before 8:00. There is also an option of anytime between 5:45 and 9:00 but we liked the idea of 6:00 so that we can all sit next to each other and debrief. I for one will want to hear about everyone’s adventures each day!

There will be two formal dinners on the cruise. They don’t have the days chosen yet but we will let you know as soon as we do. Keep this in mind when you pack. Other nights, you will still need to dress business casual (basically, no jeans or shorts).

Wedding Day:

Now for the wedding day. There has been a lot of talk about our plans for the wedding day so I am going to give you a few details now.

On April 18th, in Belize, we will be getting off the ship in the morning to get married. We will need to be ready to leave the boat between 8:30-9:00. We will  have the exact time soon. We are figuring out what time our water taxi will be picking us up to take us to the island we will get married on, we will have the details soon.

We are excited to have a morning wedding. We will not have to be too hot and we will be able to enjoy the entire day in Belize as a married couple. It is our hope that after the wedding we will be able to have a toast. This just depends on how easy alcohol is to access at the location we are at, since it will be pretty early in the day. After the wedding, everyone can choose to hang out with each other or spilt up and do their own activities. Carson and I love adventures so I am sure we will be finding something fun to do. You are welcome to join us, the more the merrier. We are excited to make some fun memories in Belize, to remind us of our wedding day. = )

At the end of the day, we will get back on the boat and get ready for dinner. We will all sit together at dinner and have a reception style meal. We have some stuff planned for that evening. After dinner we thought it would be fun to all go to the bar together for a night of festivities.

If you have any questions, please let us know! Love you all!
Carson & Kristi

Required Identification Reminder

Government issued legal birth certificate means from Vital Statistics.

U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a Passport or government-issued birth certificate AND laminated government issued picture ID, denoting photo, name and date of birth.

A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original, notarized or certified copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issues by DOS, or Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

I recommend making copies for home and a copy for your room on the ship.

Liquor and Beverage Policy

Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Day:
Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage.  A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the steakhouse. (A corkage fee is a charge exacted at a restaurant for every bottle of liquor served that was not bought on the premises)

On embarkation day, each guest may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages on board and only in their carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 bottles and/or cans, 20 ounces each or less.

All alcohol/hard liquor/beer (sealed, unopened bottles/cans), wine/champagne over the allowable 1-bottle per guest (sealed, unopened bottles) or excessive quantities of non-alcoholic beverages (over 12 per person, sealed, unopened bottles/cans) will be confiscated and stored for safekeeping until the end of the voyage. The retained item(s) will be available for collection onboard in a designated location on the morning of debarkation.  Unsealed liquids that are prohibited will be discarded, as well as any unclaimed items left after the voyage, and no compensation will be given in either case.

Large cooler restrictions:
Carnival Cruise Lines does not allow guests to bring large coolers on board its ships. However small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12”H x 12”L x 12”W for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage. Screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process. Therefore, large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage.

Ports-of-Call:
Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in any Port-of-Call will be retained at the gangway, stored on board and held by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Gift Shops On Board:
Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in the ship's gift shop will be stored on board and be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Drinking Alcohol On Board:
The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 21 years of age.  In the event that Bar/Restaurant/Gift Shop staff are in question that a guest is less than 21 years old, they shall request picture identification, prior to serving the drink or selling the bottle of liquor.

Vaccination Recommendations

Hello Comrades-

Here is the information on vaccine recommendations from the CDC.  Links provided.  Cruise lines and the Ports do not require any vaccinations, however routine vaccinations, HEP A & B and Typhoid are recommended for the Western Caribbean.

I assume that is due to the fact we are only at ports for 5-8 hours during the day and most people usually stick around the more touristy areas.  Smaller cities, villages, rural areas, and hiking are where risk of exposure is higher through food or water (Typhoid).  Mosquito repellent with DEET is also recommended.

Please visit the travel section at the CDC and/or talk with your doctor.

  • You should check with your doctor for her recommendations. Everyone has different levels of comfort.
  • Recommendations may differ for pregnant women, young children, and persons who have chronic medical conditions.
  • Vaccine recommendations are based on the best available risk information. Please note that the level of risk for vaccine-preventable diseases can change at any time.
  • Your doctor or health-care provider will determine what you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities.)

Our Flight is Booked!

Today, we decided to book our flight. I am guessing (and hoping) that the prices will still go down for all of you (in the past they have always gone lower) BUT we decided to just book it. Many of you were waiting for us to book before you did so we went for it. We are getting extremely excited, it is feeling so close now. Probably because we are off to Miami in 100 days and get married in 104!! YIPPEE!!! Our flight information is below; in case you are curious or are hoping to take the same flight. We chose to fly super early on Saturday so that we could sleep on the plane and enjoy the day in Miami. I know many of you are thinking about red eye flights. That is great but keep in mind that the flight could be delayed so you will want to make sure to be there in plenty of time. We would hate for you to pay all this money and not make the cruise.

Thanks again to all of you! We LOVE you all!!
Carson and Kristi
